Roofing Before & After in San Antonio, TX
Photos tell the truth faster than any sales pitch. Around San Antonio, a roof takes a beating from hail, wind, and 100-degree summers. We started documenting our work because homeowners kept asking the same thing: what will my roof actually look like when you’re done? Below are real project scenarios from our crews, with before and after notes on what we found and how we fixed it.

Hail-Damaged Asphalt Shingle Roof in Alamo Heights
The problem: A spring hailstorm left this Alamo Heights roof with dime-sized impact marks across the west-facing slope. Granules were collecting in the gutters, and the homeowner had already spotted a small ceiling stain in the upstairs hallway.
What we did: We documented the damage for their insurance claim, then tore off the old shingles down to the decking. Two sheets of water-damaged plywood were replaced before we installed new underlayment, drip edge, and GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in a charcoal tone that matched the home’s limestone trim.
The result: A roof that should hold up for the next two or three decades, with a written price the homeowner approved before we touched a single nail.
Worn Flashing and Repeated Leaks in Stone Oak
The problem: This Stone Oak home had leaked around the chimney twice in three years. Previous repairs involved caulk, and caulk doesn’t last long against Texas sun. The flashing was original to the 1990s roof and had corroded through in places you couldn’t see from the ground.
What we did: We removed the old step flashing and counter-flashing, cut a clean reglet into the chimney mortar, and installed new copper flashing. Then we sealed the chimney crown and replaced the damaged shingles around the base.
The result: No more tarp on the bedroom floor. The repair carries a written guarantee, and if it ever fails within the next year, we come back and fix it free under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
Storm Wind Tear-Off on a Two-Story in Helotes
The problem: A January windstorm peeled back a section of shingles on the north-facing slope, exposing the underlayment to rain. The homeowner called on a Sunday morning, and a live person answered the phone, not a voicemail.
What we did: Because the damage ran across multiple shingle courses, a patch repair wouldn’t have matched or sealed properly. We recommended a full reroof and gave the homeowner a written price before scheduling the work. The old roof came off, we replaced damaged decking, and installed CertainTeed Landmark shingles with new ridge vent and pipe boots.
The result: A roof that looks finished from every angle. The homeowner said the crew left the yard cleaner than they found it, which is the standard we train to.
Decking Rot Repair Near the Valley in a 1970s Ranch
The problem: This ranch-style home near Vance Jackson had an old satellite dish mount that had been removed years ago, but the patched area was never sealed right. Water got under the shingles and rotted the plywood decking in a six-foot strip along the eave.
What we did: We pulled the shingles in that section, cut out the rotted plywood, and replaced it with new decking. Then we laid down ice-and-water shield in that vulnerable spot, re-felted the slope, and installed Owens Corning Duration shingles that blended with the rest of the roof.
The result: You can’t tell where the repair was made, and the homeowner finally stopped worrying every time the sky turned dark.
Full Roof Replacement After Decades of Patch Repairs in Converse
The problem: This Converse home had four different shingle colors on it from years of patch repairs. The homeowner was tired of the patchwork look and knew there was hidden damage underneath. She was right. The original roof was installed in 1998, and the underlayment had started to fail.
What we did: Full tear-off, all new underlayment, replaced seven sheets of decking, and installed Atlas Pinnacle Pristine shingles in a single consistent color. New flashing at the valleys, the walls, and every penetration. The homeowner received a written price before we ordered materials.
The result: A house that finally looks like it belongs to itself again. Her neighbor across the street called us two weeks later.
